National Defence
At the heart of the city, 22 Wing CFB North Bay operates a state-of-the-art 100,000 sq. ft. facility, providing surveillance, identification, control, and warning for aerospace defense across North America.
Regarded as one of Canada's most crucial military bases for continental air defense and national air sovereignty, 22 Wing/Canadian Forces Base North Bay is home to the decommissioned NORAD Underground Complex—an expansive bunker 60 storeys beneath the Earth's surface, reminiscent of a shopping center in size.
